Terms and Conditions
These terms apply to everyone who uses The Spanish Blitz, whether you are reading a free lesson without an account or paying for a membership. By using the site you agree to them. Please read them; they are written to be readable.
1. The service
The Spanish Blitz provides Spanish vocabulary practice: flashcard study, written and spoken answer practice, timed solo and multiplayer challenges, and classroom tools for teachers. It also publishes free written Spanish lessons that require no account.
It is a study aid. It is not a certified course, it does not award qualifications, and nothing on it should be relied on as professional translation or as advice of any kind.
2. Accounts
Some features require an account. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password to yourself. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access to it.
You must give accurate registration details. One person, one account. Do not share an account or let someone else use yours.
If you are under the age required to consent to online services where you live, you may only use The Spanish Blitz with the involvement of a parent, guardian or teacher who agrees to these terms on your behalf.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the site for anything unlawful, or to harass, abuse or impersonate anyone.
- Upload content into sets, classrooms or profiles that is illegal, hateful, obscene, or infringes someone else's rights.
- Attempt to break, overload, probe or gain unauthorised access to the site, its accounts, or its infrastructure.
- Scrape, bulk-download or resell our lesson content or vocabulary data.
- Interfere with, click on in bad faith, block or artificially inflate any advertising shown on the site.
- Use automated means to play challenges, inflate scores, or manipulate rankings.
4. Your content
Vocabulary sets, cards and other material you create remain yours. You grant us the limited permission needed to store that material, show it back to you, and show it to the students in a classroom you have shared it with. We do not claim ownership of it and we do not sell it.
You are responsible for having the right to upload whatever you upload.
5. Our content
The lessons, site design, software, branding and vocabulary content we publish belong to The Spanish Blitz and are protected by copyright. You may read, link to and use our free lessons for personal study and in your own classroom teaching. You may not republish them, sell them, or present them as your own work.
6. Free and paid plans
The Free plan is free to use and is supported by advertising. It applies limits to the number of sets, cards per set, classrooms, students per classroom and daily challenges. The current limits are shown on the Pricing page.
A paid membership lifts those limits and removes advertising. The current price is shown on the Pricing page and is charged monthly in advance.
7. Payment, renewal and cancellation
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details; Stripe handles them under its own terms and privacy policy.
A membership renews automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your Profile page. Cancelling stops the next renewal — it does not end the period you have already paid for, and you keep membership features until that period ends.
We may change prices. If we do, we will tell existing members before the change takes effect on their renewal, and you can cancel before it applies.
Except where the law gives you a refund right, payments for periods already served are not refundable. If something went wrong — you were charged twice, or a fault stopped you using what you paid for — write to us and we will put it right.
8. Advertising
The Free plan shows advertising, including ads served by Google AdSense. We control where ad slots sit on the page; we do not choose the individual ads, and an ad appearing on the site is not an endorsement of the advertiser by us. How advertising cookies work, and how to opt out of personalised ads, is set out in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
9. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the site and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, particularly for abuse of other users, attacks on the service, or manipulation of advertising. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
10. Availability and disclaimers
We work to keep the site running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Features may change or be withdrawn. Voice recognition depends on your browser and microphone and will not be accurate for everyone in every environment.
The site is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, lost profits, or loss arising from exam or course outcomes. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. The "last updated" date above always shows the current version. Material changes will be announced on the site before they take effect, and continuing to use The Spanish Blitz after that means you accept the new terms.
